I’m a self proclaimed sugar addict. In fact, when I was pregnant with my son, the doctor said they had never seen someone process glucose so quickly. I attribute that to years of training indulging my sweet tooth. In March of this year, I decided to challenge myself. 31 Days with no refined white sugar. The first few days were AWFUL. I had a headache that wouldn’t subside, I was tired and I was cranky. I was sure I wasn’t going to make it. Day 4 hit and everything changed. Almost like the flip of a switch I felt amazing. The headache lifted, I was no longer groggy waking up in the morning, and I had energy to spare (which comes in handy chasing after a spirited two year old boy!) By the end of the month I was feeling great and down ten pounds without even trying. But alas, I still had the sweet tooth. I’ve learned and continue to learn ways to satisfy the cravings without the use of refined sugars. Some experiments have been hits and some have been major misses. To save you some time I’ll only post the good stuff and hopefully inspire others to go sugar free knowing if I can do it, anyone can 🙂
